THE JOURNEY SO FAR - History

On the 12th of October 1976, the foundation of Bauchi YMCA was laid, by 1979, the YMCA Bauchi permanent site was acquired and the VTC arrangement was already in top motion.

Sebsequently, the NURSERY & PRIMARY school took off as the first and the best school in town [" the current acting general Secretary and few youths in the board of management were products of the school"].

YMCA waxed stronger and in the year 1996, the Bauchi Youth Club was formed and by the year 2000 it gained recognition by partners and by implication BAUCHI YMCA received the highest programme support among all others YMCAs in Northern Nigeria from EJW GERMANY.

The recognition even by the National Council of Nigeria justified our selection as one of six centres for the implementation of the YES project ( Youth Education and Service ) in 2003, a reproductive health project that was supported by the YMCA USA, David and Lucile Packard foundation.

From 1976 to date, Bauchi YMCA has thrived through thick and thin, we are determined that the vision of our founders will not die in our time.
